Second sequel to Takashi Miike's ultra-violent 1999 film 'Dead or Alive', set in a post-apocalyptic Yokohama where the population is kept under rigid control by a half crazed mayor. Takeshi Honda (Riki Takeuchi), a hard-boiled cop, and Ryô (Sho Aikawa), a mellow drifter, hook up with a gang of rebels. When the gang kidnap Takeshii's son, the wheels are set in motion for the inevitable outrageously bloody showdown.
Another surreal and outré film by maverick Japanese director Takashi Miike. When senior yakuza Ozaki (Sho Aikawa) starts to behave in an increasingly peculiar manner, his superiors start getting worried, and order Ozaki's immediate underling Minami (Hideki Sone) to get rid of him. On the way to the yakuza disposal dump, Minami, nervous about the job ahead of him, hits the brakes too hard and kills Ozaki completely by accident. After he stops to find a telephone to report the incident to his boss, he returns to the car to find that Ozaki's body has vanished. So begins a desperate and increasingly un-hinged search that takes in a bizarre array of eccentric and deranged suburbanites, each of whom seems to reflect some weird, dark aspect of Minami's complex and troubled personality.
Collection of Japanese crime films directed by Takashi Miike. 'Dead Or Alive' (1999) follows brothers Ryuichi (Riki Takeuchi) and Toji (Michisuke Kashiwaya) as they look to make a name for themselves in the Tokyo criminal underworld. Their nemesis is Detective Jojima (Shô Aikawa), a cop who has become involved in various crooked deals in order to pay for his ailing daughter's life-saving operation. As Ryuichi tries to take a slice of a large Taiwanese drug haul, Jojima draws in closer, and the pair get set for a deadly confrontation. In 'Dead Or Alive 2: Birds' (2000), hired killer Otamoko (Aikawa) accepts the contract to assassinate a vicious gangster, only to be beaten to it by another hitman. Deciding to take the money anyway, Otamoko finds himself on the run with members of both the Triads and Yakuza in hot pursuit. After eventually reaching the island of his birth, he teams up with an old friend in an attempt to fight back against the powerful crime syndicates which are looking for him. Finally, in 'Dead Or Alive: Final' (2002), rugged cop Takeshi Honda (Takeuchi) and mellow drifter Ryô (Aikawa) join forces with a band of rebels to take on a deranged mayor in the post-apocalyptic city of Yokohama.
Three short films directed by Asian horror's most controversial directors. Fruit Chan directs a forty-minute cut of his earlier film 'Dumplings', with newly shot footage. 'Box' is directed by Takashi Miike, and follows a romantic novelist who is haunted by a childhood trauma. Finally, 'Cut' is directed by Chan-Wook Park, and follows a disgruntled film extra who forces an affable director to prove that he has a nasty streak of his own.
